Can I add my own smiley to The Smiley Site?

Yes you can. Just login, go to the smiley page and click the "[ add a smiley ]"-link. You will then be able to enter the details about you smiley.

Can I hotlink these smilies?

Yes you can, as long as you are using the URL provided on the smiley page. All other URLs are hotlink protected, (as long as you don't violate its license). We do ask you to provide a link to The Smiley Site however.

Can I use a smiley in my Instant Messenger?

Yes you can. For most messengers you just have to download a smiley, or a whole set and manually add the smiley to your emoticon-list.

To make this process more easier however, we are making install scripts for sets. Currently we support aMSN on Linux. All you have to do to is to download a set-archive, to extract it, to open a terminal, to close your running aMSN and to run the install script. Here's a sample: how to install the smilies for the user with email info@thesmileysite.com:

Do not copy the $ signs at the start of each line, these indicate that you should type what comes next to it. All other lines are printed by the install script.

How do I link directly to a smiley?

Use the url that's displayed on the smiley page. All other urls to the image are hotlink protected, but you are free to use that one (as long as you don't violate the license). We do ask you to provide a link to The Smiley Site however.

How do I use a smiley in my email?

That depends of the email client you are using. If it is The Smiley Site compatible, us the code in the third box on the smiley page. If it isn't, but if it does support HTML, copy the code from the first textbox on the smileypage. If it is none of the above, use the image URL that's displayed on the smiley page and enter it somewhere in your email client. Where exactly depends on your email client, again.

How do I use a smiley on a forum?

Simply copy the code from the second textbox on the smilies page, and paste it into your forum message.

If the forum supports it, you can also use the code from the third box.

What do I have to do to use your smilies?

Just copy one of the codes on the smiliey page to your site, IM, blog, myspace-profile or wherever elese you want. You can als just save the smiley you want to use. All you have to do is provide a link to this website and respect the smiley's license.
